05 / Meet the builder
Meet Jesse Zimmer.
Jesse creates Sandy Feet’s own distinctive residences, with room to explore new ideas in each home. He also considers select collaborations with property owners. His involvement reaches from the floor plan to the finishes. He selected the interiors at 606 and 608 himself and works with trusted trades and design collaborators as each new home takes shape.
Originally from a small town in Minnesota, Jesse found a weathered sign reading “Sandy Feet” before he had a name for the business. Later, a “Sandy Feet Welcome” sign in his future Surf City office made the name feel right.
His search for materials has taken him beyond conventional suppliers, including windows, decking, and glass rail systems sourced from Germany for coastal projects. The goal is a home with a distinct character, where the thought behind each selection is felt in everyday use.

Hey, this is Philip Hayes from Surf City, North Carolina, and I wanted to share with you my family's experience working with Jesse Zimmer and Sandy Feet Builders. When my wife and I were looking for our forever home, we were pretty much a blank slate. We gave our relative just two conditions. One, we wanted a new build. Two, we wanted that build to be somewhere on the coast in North Carolina. He told us that Jesse Zimmer was building some of the most unique and best properties in the state. We had already looked at dozens of houses before we stepped foot in Jesse Zimmer property and we were blown away. The creativity, the craftsmanship was unlike anything else that we saw. And working with Jesse and his staff at Sandy Feet Builders was really easy throughout the entire process. They were very attentive to our needs. So, if you're in the market, if you're looking for a new house, I hope you'd give Jesse and Sandy Feet Builders a try. You're not going to be disappointed and plus Jesse's a pretty cool guy.
